All Boy

He has blonde hair and blue eyes
He's makes the energize bunny look like a retired hare
His eyes sparkle and he's always looking for the next adventure

He's not afraid of anything as far as I can tell
He is fascinated with anything mechanical
He eats hot sauce on everything and loves ice cream

He loves to take things apart and you can watch his little mind at work
He likes lining up all his trucks, I'm not quite sure where they are going
He has a plan for everything and is very busy all the time

He was the ring bearer at our wedding
He decided to 'strutt his stuff' while walking down the aisle
He stole the show and that's no lie

He is so fun to watch and as I try to figure him out
I realize he is a lot like his dad and his grandad
Oh way a joy! He's all Smith, he's all boy

Missing Someone

I miss having someone know that I talk in my sleep
I miss someone not knowing my likes and dislikes
Knowing the color of my eyes
My dress size
My favorite color

I miss having someone to hold
And I miss more than anything being held
Physical touch is a powerful thing
Like someone touching your face
Or kissing the nape of your neck

I miss having someone to do things with
I don't want to feel like a third wheel forever
I want someone to want to be with just me
I want to be first in someone else's life

I miss receiving the phone call at work to see what's for dinner
I miss talking with someone about my day and listening to his
I miss 'hellos' and 'see ya later'

I know that God has someone special for me
And when I meet him everyone will see
That the one that's passed and the one that's present
Fills the void in my heart

Christian Life Church Easter Drama

I know a man who was broken in body and spirit
Who hung on a cross for all mankind to see
Who took on the world's sin and became the supreme sacrifice

I know a people who were undeserving
Who took for granted the one who hung on the cross
And who became the supreme sacrifice

I know a church who took the broken hearted
And The Broken one and brought them together
In one moment of truth He hung before their eyes

The Word has been tossed on the water
And will not return void
The people who gave of their time and talent
Will not go unblessed

God's Gentle Breeze

March winds blow in and out
It sweeps the earth clean of debris

I pray that March winds blow
In my heart and mind
Sweeping me clean
In this test of time

I feel like I'm bending
Like so many grasses in the wind
It's hard to tell where I'll end or begin

The wind makes me feel restless
I prefer calmer days
Lord keep me in your care as
Life blows in and out
Sweeping my soul away

Sisters Forever

I remember when they brought you home
You were all red and tears were pouring
I walked you across the schoolyard every day
You claimed you had a tummy ache

I remember the time you ripped your toenail off
And I wished I could have traded places with you
I remember the time you were in the hospital
And Brother Treece came and prayed for you

I remember all the mornings ironing your clothes
Sitting up with you "just one more time" until you went to sleep
Or going with you in the dark to turn on the light
I remember fighting and yelling and giggles and laughs

When did you grow up so fast, I ask?
Now you have kids and all the possibilities they hold
Responsibilities that come with a life of your own
Where is the kid with the tears and the tummy ache?

No one comes between us, no one dares to try
We are sisters forever, you and I.
Tranquility

A small quiet stream with trees lining the banks
Leaves so still you swear you can see them breathe
Your eyes follow the stream to the farthest point
And the air is thick with honeysuckle and wild onions

It is dark and mysterious the deeper you look through the trees
Water is softly gurgling and flowing over river pebbles
A leaf falls from a tree and floats past your feet
And lichen clings to fallen tree trunks and broken limbs

The trees are deathly still
The water is clear and clean
Birds sing in the distance
And God waits for you to stop and notice

His beauty, creation, spirit and tranquility
Can be found walking beside a small quiet stream
And you leave there becoming a better person
For basking in the tranquility of God

Water Dancing

I noticed fall leaves floating down a small stream today while I was in the park.
Some barely danced on top of the water; while others floated just under the surface.
What makes one leaf float on top and another one float just under the water?

The leaves were peacefully floating, unaware of a waterfall just down stream.
It was fun to watch them go over the edge, getting lost in the turbulence,
Only to pop up further down the stream.

The leaves reminded me of life. Some days you dance on top of the water.
Other days you are struggling against the current.
The waterfalls come and you plunge deep within the swift pool.

I decided today that I want to be a water dancer.
People may try to force me down under the current.
But I refuse to let others define my path.

Dancing on top of the water is the answer I've been looking for.
Lord please help me to be a water dancer.
Always finding my own way to the waterfall.

Surrendering myself to your swift pools of grace.
Where I learn to uplift others and help them see,
That dancing on top of the water is key

Children Breaking Barriers

Children Breaking Barriers

I sat in a restaurant recently and watched two children
Who had never met before that day
They acted as if they had known each other forever

Neither of them asked what their social status was
They didn't care about their age or color of skin difference
They were too busy having fun

They smiled at each other
They ran off together to play
The parents exchanged a few brief words

Why is it that adults don't readily make friends?
These parents sized each other up with one glance
The children played together as if they were long lost cousins

Children are honest and open
They love to laugh and play
Jesus said suffer the little children to come unto him and forbid them not

He was saying in the simplest terms
Adults should pay attention to a child's play
Learn from them and break down barriers of mistrust

Learn to take the time to meet someone new every day
Seek potential and opportunity on every face
Be Christ and Child like and make this world a better place
